How to Create a Facebook Friend List like Google+ Circles!

People are always in search of the next big thing online, and right now, Google+ is being touted as just that. One of the most talked about features is Circles. Circles lets you manage lists of your friends by simply dragging and dropping their pictures into little circles that represent certain lists.

Facebook lets you create lists of friends, but it doesn’t do it in such a nice and easy way. In this article we will see how to create a “Friend Lists” in Facebook, but in a style that Google+ uses. In addition, I’ll go over the regular way to make a friend list in Facebook if you are unfamiliar with it.

The Google+ Way

To achieve the Google+ drag and drop list making capability, you need to use the website application called Circle Hack. Head over to the website’s home page, and you will be asked to log into your Facebook account. Once you do so, the request for permission page will appear which you must allow in order to access the interface.

Once you accept this, you will see your friends are displayed like they are on Google+. This can be a first hand experience of Google+ if you are still awaiting an invite in your inbox. The only difference is that, those circles will correspond to your Facebook Friends Lists. If you wish to add any friend to an existing list, simply drag and drop one over the selected circle. Creating a new list is pretty simple too.

When you have logged on to Circle Hack via Facebook, you will see a circle in the bottom left corner. Drag a friend and drop him/her on the circle to create a new list.

In order to create the list and give it a name, click on “Create list”. Following the rest is simple. Once you have a list done, you will see it appear as a new circle.

The Regular Way

Unless you love drag and drop interface, you may follow the regular approach of creating Friends Lists on Facebook by following the link and clicking on “Create a List” button.

When you click that button, a window will pop up. Select your friends, give the list a name and hit the “Create List” button. You’ve just created a list.

Adding friends to an existing list is a bit tiring. Again, follow the link and hover over your friends to click on “Edit Lists”. Select the list you want to add your friend to and your friend gets added. If he/she is already there, you may uncheck him/her from the list. Unfortunately, this cannot be done by the drag and drop method.

Delete a List or Edit its Name

If you wish to delete or edit the name of a list, you will have to follow the regular way here. Select the list from the left hand side column and approach the link of your choice.
